We are getting close to the big day of full tummies, family, friends, music and fun. At the end of that day most of us will simply pass out or roll home since walking just doesn’t seem to be an option with so much food in our stomachs.
Lets get ready and prepare your home with some free decoration you can find in the park or forest. Yes you heard right, no need to buy too much when you have some at home and can pick up the rest on a nice walk in the park on a sunny day.
There are so many things you made by yourself and wish to give to your friends and family as a present. Why not add a little something to it to make it even more special.
I found this stamp set at target for $3 and am stamping away like crazy now. With Christmas and all the other holidays coming up there is always a reason to give a gift and you want to make sure that it is wrapped really nice.
I made the baby hat in the picture for a friend of mine as she is expecting her 2nd child and since they don’t wish to reveal the gender I went a little wild on the color selection. Continue reading →
I am a big fan of Jet. We order fresh food from them on a bimonthly base. They deliver super fast and their prices are lower than fresh direct and amazon fresh. For now their selection is limited but that is quickly changing. When you receive a delivery the box will not only have all your items, but also lots of packaging material for you to work with. A big part of me feels really bad about it, since it just seems too much and it seems wrong to just dispose all of it. So for one I hold on to all the bubble wrap, since you can use it for the next birthday package you might want to send to your mom or friend. Also in case your are about to move I highly recommend ordering food from them since all that material is just perfect for all your moving boxes and items that need protection.
On another note Jet has just been bought by Walmart. You can read more about it here. I hope this will only affect their product variety, pricing and service in a positive way.
We stayed at a hotel room in Montreal and realized that our little girl really loved all those pillows. Who can blame her it is so comfy . So we decided to finally get her, her own pillow for her bed at home. On our way home we stopped at Ikea and among the many items we ended up buying we purchased a Slan Pillow that I turned into a crib pillow.
Daddy has a tendency to rip his cloth somehow or it might just have been the laundry machine that caused the damage. So I could fix the hole in his pants or instead have fun with it and turn the fabric into something new. This time I turned his old P J pants into one pair of P J shorts for me and one for our little girl.
For the toddler pants she is recommending a T-shirt, but you can also use the legs of daddy’s P J pants. I am a big fan of the TheCraftyGemini, she teaches you how you can easily make easy beginners project. You should definitely check her out.
I adjusted the pattern a little and used old jeans for the project. All you need is a sewing machine , a zigzag scissor, yarn of course, fabric pins and a coat hanger. Cut the jeans so that the width is the same as the coat hanger inside, length can be as long as you like plus the part that you fold up where the pockets will be. Cut everything with a zigzag scissor, that way you don’t have to worry about sewing the edges. Now fold the jeans fabric, sew the sides (I did this part inside out) and then create different size pockets depending on what you would like to put in the pocket. You can use the object that is meant to go into the pocket to measure the width of the it. To attach it to the hanger I just used some nice pins, folded the fabric around the hanger part and pined it.
For this project you just need to know how to sew straight lines 🙂 easy peasy
We moved into a much bigger place (from 600 square feet to 1600 square feet) and the place needs lots of decoration, which is still a work in progress. We had a DUDERÖ Ikea lamp from our old place, however the paper cover started to look kind of yellow so I decided to cover the whole lamp in fabric. I used some leftover fabric (the polka dot one) and 3 of my husbands old work shirts. Continue reading →
If you are like me, then your place has unfinished projects in every corner of your apartment. Lets face it, most likely those projects will never be done and you might just take them apart sooner or later.
That being said I now follow a simple rule…. FINISH FIRST, before you start your next exciting project. You might not even want to pause at all and work an all nighter if possible. That way you are using your motivation to its fullest.
The New Year can be a good motivation for you to finish all the old projects and then make a list of all the things you wish to make or take part in in 2016. With that, I am not just talking about DIY projects but everything else in your life.Make it count!
Those cookie cutters are so much more than just to make delicious little things. Most of the time you use them in December and for the rest of the year they will be hiding somewhere. Right now its high season for them so make sure you return them to the box they are supposed to be in after using them for this fun art project.
They can be used to make some wonderful fabric applique. All you need to do is choose the one you like , place it on a piece of fabric (this is very awesome for fabric leftovers), trace a line around the cookie cutter and then cut it out. This little applique can then be used to close a hole on your favorite jeans or to make that cute dress even prettier. It is your choice what you do with it, there are so many options such as:
use shapes in a quiet book for toddler
elbow patch on your old sweater
use on your next quilt project
as a gift tag
as a logo / tag for your items
You can sew it on by hand which might be more precise or use your sewing machine ( I used a zigzag stitch) and go really slow about it.
Now that I started making these, I feel like adding an applique to everything….;)
